Balance of Power

Fred Holt devotes his time and energy to helping students strike their own.

For Sifu Fred Holt, martial arts began as a fascination with movement and mystery—the balance of discipline and flow. “Kung Fu became my foundation,” says Holt, who began his journey more than 20 years ago. “Tai Chi opened the internal side of training: energy, breath, awareness.” What started as curiosity became a lifelong path.

Today, he teaches Tai Chi, Qi Gong and Kung Fu, and through Warrior Flow Training helps students master the art of balancing the forces of yin and yang, softness and strength, stillness and motion. Teaching, he says, “wasn’t just a next step — it was a reflection of growth.” Every student brings a different energy, and that exchange keeps Holt continuously evolving. “Kung Fu is the expression of power; Tai Chi is the refinement of energy,” he notes. “They’re two sides of the same art — the external and the internal in conversation.”

At the classes he holds in Miami and at Pier Sixty-Six in Fort Lauderdale, Holt finds the perfect setting.

“The space exudes elegance and refinement—qualities that align with Tai Chi,” he says. “The people who come here bring that mindset.”

Holt’s approach goes beyond muscle. “It’s fitness that moves energy, not just the body,” he says. His students gain “confidence and calm — they learn to slow down, to respond instead of react. Ultimately,” he says, “these arts are awareness in motion. Everything begins with presence.”
